Small steps

It's been a busy week!
More glossing done, and more furniture moved.

If you read this blog regularly, you can probably guess where we found this table and also the chairs.  I can't imagine how we'd have managed without the help of ebay.  These chairs had hardly been used, and still had the price tags underneath.  The seller had just bought a Weimaraner puppy and wasn't sure if it would damage them with its claws.  I think I'd have waited to see what happened first rather than get rid of them.  The table used to live in Malvern, I'm not sure how old it is.

We had just enough space in the dining room for an armchair.  This is Laura Ashley via ebay.  It is very squishy and comfortable.  This spot will be perfect for reading in winter with the woodburner on.

The roller blinds weren't from ebay, as they had to be made to fit the windows.  They're fine enough not to block out all the sunlight, but to also provide privacy, and thick enough to hopefully dispense with drawing the curtains every night.

I'm really pleased with how the blinds look!

I think we've managed to make the most of the space in our little dining room.

In the utility room, the tiler came back yesterday to fit the tiles.  The colours in them are beautiful.

I sealed the tiles today, hence why the sockets are still hanging off waiting for the sealant to dry!

In between the dining room and utility room is the kitchen.  It's still a dumping ground/major work in progress!

We're heading in the right direction, but there's still a lot to be done.

  2. So beautiful !
I love all the treasures you find on ebay. I love the idea of a comfy chair in the dining room.
I am thinking of putting a very soft, squishy, padded bench along one wall in my small kitchen eat-in-space. I have though about this for several years but ...

I think your utility area is shaping up nicely. What a super space to work in.

    cheers, parsnip

    1. With your climate, I think all of my furniture would be outside!! I guess it depends how much time you spend in the kitchen. I enjoy cooking and would have loved a squishy chair in my kitchen too, but it was between that and a dresser, so the dresser won.

    1. Hi Cheryl
That is exactly what I will do. I absolutely love reading, and have made time for it throughout. It would be lovely to read a novel without the nagging guilt of what I 'should' be doing though. I'm really looking forward to guilt-free reading.

  8. Hello again Dan. Thank you for your sweet comments :o) The macro lens was new off ebay complete with a wide angle lens for less than a fiver including postage! I'm amazed they actually work.
Yes, if china is tapped it should make a clear ringing sound if it is perfect.
    Have a great week.

Some things we weren't able to find on ebay, but with patience, ebay has really saved us a fortune on the renovation.

  10. So jealous! Not of the work involved, but of the results, your location, the inevitable local down the road, and your soon to be beautiful garden space too. Please send your new phone number when you are settled and we'll have a nice long natter!

    1. Hi Kat
The phone's not being connected until July. We have two locals. One is up the road, and is inevitable due to its drinks prices and atmosphere. The other is down the road and serves fantastic food, apparently (we're always too skint and busy to go!!).

We still have 'finishing work' this end too (a house to sell in a flat market).
Thanks for the lovely comment, and good luck with your high altitude garden too!! I'm sure it'll be gorgeous and I look forward to seeing it in summer.
